This page was deleted after a  self proclaimed TOP QUALITY breeder emailed and requested that I take this off the site because buyers were being "scared off" and not buying BLUE PUPPIES.

I complied at the time against my better judgment..  I still feel that Blues are being bred irresponsibly and the coats are far less than adequate in most cases.

I purchased ( paid for)  a Blue from a "TOP QUALITY" breeder of "small and Tiny  or very tiny " puppies in December of 2007.  The breeder canceled the deal on February 14, 2008,  claiming his COAT  was not GOOD ENOUGH to be a BREEDER DOG....This was her "professional opinion" This puppy was sold at nearly as much as I had paid for him as a breeder and put into a "PET ONLY HOME".   After much debate with the breeder,  I finally received a refund today  ( FEB 20, 08)

This dog was so tiny the breeder asked me to wait to have the ears cropped that he would die if done now. He is  12 weeks old and weighs less than 1 1/2 pounds. We do not know if the dog will be neutered before leaving the breeder. However, we all know if not, he "could" be used to breed those "backyard" dogs to earn some extra cash.
No contract can stop this from happening. Altering the animals is the only sure way.

My question here is still the same: Why are we producing inferior coated dogs? And why should people pay TOP DOLLAR for a dog that will be a life time of vet bills and expenses?

This is the second blue male I have purchased  from what is thought of out there as  a "Responsible Breeders".  The first dog was bought to be a foundation stud nearly 18 months ago.  That pup also cost me $1,100 and with in  24 hours of picking him up he had a cough. I took him to the vet and was sent home without being properly diagnosed. The following day the breeder called and said the other puppies had kennel cough. I could not get her to acknowledge the 5 day health guarantee and refund my  money.
Within  a few weeks this pup had bumps on his head. Within months he had thinning hair and by the time he was 8 months old he had a bald spot on his side.  Today is nearly hairless.

I joined an internet pet forum on "blues and dilutes" and asked what to do with the dog and was told to neuter him by many. Two breeders contacted me privatley and suggest a peanut butter treat home made with vitamins and minerals otherwise known as       "grow hair on a door knob recipe" I  purchased the meds to make it and it did help to grow hair on his back hips and neck only.

ALOPECIA, CDA, otherwise called
"color dilute alopecia" is very expensive for the owner and very time consuming to properly care for this nearly hairless dog. Vitamins, sweaters coats, extra blankets a heater on his bed and all...

                   This is just pure
           "ANIMAL CRUELTY "
  IN OUR PROFESSIONAL OPINION!

One breeder that I highly respected told me not to neuter him that he would get better. Well, that did not happen.

The real problem is that this is a very cruel abuse to the animal that is going thru his entire life ( 14-16 years) cold all the time.  His hair is very thin, very short and shows skin underneath it all.   THANK HEAVENS he was NEVER used as a STUD!

He is very cold all winter but also he is very hot in the summer and has to be kept inside out of the sunshine so he HE WILL NOT SUNBURN!

I am not sure how anyone now would be able to find a RESPONSIBLE  BREEDER they could trust.  I have worked with two that have disappointed me greatly.

The UKC is began allowing BLUES to show .  There must be  EXCELLENT Blues out there if they are winning any classes at all....However, todate, we at BayWatch MIn Pins have yet to see one!

AS of today, we will no longer  want to breed or support those that do breed BLUES!
